Author guidelines
POLICIES:
1. Authors, co-authors and free participation
1.1. Free Submission
Anyone interested may submit contributions to the journal, regardless of any affiliation with the publishing entity or the journal itself. Submission and publication, if accepted, are entirely free of charge and do not require any fee payment.
1.2. Number of Authors
The number of authors listed for a manuscript should reflect the customary standards of the relevant academic discipline. However, the Journal considers that more than three authors must be especially well justified. Likewise, it is deemed poor practice to include as authors individuals who did not participate in the research or whose involvement was merely nominal, such as supervisors or advisors of research projects.
1.3. Authorship Order
By default, in cases of co-authorship, the order of authorship shall be that indicated by the authors in the author identification document, which must be uploaded to the platform along with the article manuscript. However, the leading positions should be assigned to those who played the principal role in drafting the text.
According to the Journal’s criteria, holding an academic title or rank, or relying on alphabetical order, is not considered an appropriate basis for determining authorship order. Instead, it should reflect the actual work performed. If the work was carried out under equal workload conditions and a criterion such as alphabetical order is chosen, it is advisable to state the reason in the task distribution section.
1.4. Specification of Task Distribution and Individual Contribution
In cases of co-authorship, it is recommended to specify and justify the part of the work or the division of responsibilities undertaken by each author. The author identification document includes a section for this purpose, which will be published if the article is accepted.
1.5. Recommended Guidelines
In all cases, it is recommended to follow the authorship attribution guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
2. Original and unpublished contributions
All the works must be original and unpublished. Writings that have been published in magazines or books will not be accepted. However, the articles and notes based on communications or papers will be susceptible of publication in the journal, provided that after being presented in Congresses they have been duly adapted and reference made that they come from a previous communication or communication.
3. Evaluation process and estimated publication time
Contributions will be submitted to an anonymous and external peer review according to the policy established for each section. (Review Section policies and get more information on external evaluation).
The complete process takes 9 months, and consists of a pre-review phase (2 month), evaluation (4 months), layout (1 month) and publication. However, this timing can be shortened or extended depending on the overlap of the submission with the publication dates of the last number (at the beginning of each semester). The estimated publication of the paper would be 9 months after the submission.
4. Temporary limitation for second and successive contributions
Authors who have published in the Journal must wait three years from the date of publication before sending another contribution. The Editorial Team may make exceptions, especially in the case of guest articles or those published in the Doctrine and Focus section.
5. Recommendations and Gender Perspective
The use of inclusive and non-sexist language is recommended in scientific articles.
In research where it is possible and relevant, it is suggested to incorporate the sex/gender variable into the research design, methodological approach, results, discussion, limitations, and conclusions.
6. Acknowledgments and Funding Reference
Authors may include acknowledgments as well as references to the projects or funding under which the work was carried out. In such cases, this information must be included in the author identification document submitted alongside the article, since it cannot initially appear in the contribution file in order to preserve the anonymity of the peer review process. The author identification template contains a designated space for this purpose.
At the time of submission, authors must also provide this information when prompted by the submission form, so that it can be incorporated into the metadata of their contribution.
If the article is accepted, this information will be published alongside the initial details of the article. It is recommended to cite the project name, its code, the funding call or equivalent, and the funding entity.
7. Acceptance of policies
The submission of contributions to the SPANISH JOURNAL OF TRANSPARENCY entails acceptance of these rules. The Editorial Board will ensure the quality of the same and reserves the right to reject contributions, to classify them in the section that best corresponds to their content, and to make changes in the articles considered appropriate for better understanding. The publication in the magazine supposes the cession by gratuitous title of any right that could correspond.
8. Documents to be submitted, formats and supplementary files
8.1. Documents to be submitted
Two files must be uploaded via the journal’s website:
a) Author identification details
All required information must be provided: author details, task distribution and contribution in the case of co-authorship, reference to projects (if applicable), etc.
This must be completed using the template available for download at the following LINK.
Please upload this document in .DOCX format or equivalent.
b) Anonymized article/contribution
This document must follow the author guidelines. It must be completed using the template available for download at the following LINK.
No personal data of any kind should be included in the document to ensure anonymous peer review.
Please upload this document in .DOCX format or equivalent.
8.2. Supplementary files
During the submission process, authors may upload supplementary files in addition to the mandatory ones (author identification details and anonymized manuscript) if they consider them relevant for the evaluation of their work.
These files must be in commonly used formats for databases and spreadsheets (.XLS, .SAV, etc.), text documents (.DOC, .DOCX, etc.), or images and graphic materials (.JPG, video formats, etc.). Equivalent formats from open-source software are also accepted. Under no circumstances will self-executing files (e.g., .EXE) or any files that may compromise platform security be accepted.
Please be judicious when adding supplementary files. There is no set size limit. However, if you wish to include files larger than 5 MB, you must submit a Word document containing a link that allows the file to be downloaded from any file-sharing platform.
Please note that at any stage of the process, the journal may request the data source in order to carry out the necessary verifications.
9. Submission
