Democratic Memory, right to the truth, access to archivesAbstract
Access to the documentary collections of the repression related to the Franco regime in our country has often been plagued with both legal and material obstacles, which the Law 52/2007 on Historical memory could not or would not smooth over. The new Democratic Memory Law 20/2022, on the other hand, although maintaining a continuing character in some issues, contains significant innovations mainly derived from the recognition of the right to the truth, not only for the victims, but for society as a whole, with direct consequences on historical research.
