Transparency, an extensive idea with different implications

As it is currently conceived, the notion of transparency offers different implications that, over time, have become increasingly amplified and complex. What began with the world's first regulation on transparency (the Swedish law of 1766), which underpinned an embryonic right of access to government information, has germinated in more recent applications linked to the Open Data movement, as well as to the establishment of open governments that go beyond mere traditional accountability.
