The conflict between transparency and data protection after the entry into force of the general data protection regulation

The entry into force of the General Data Protection Regulation has brought about a significant change in the European regulatory framework governing the fundamental right to data protection. In particular, it has led to some progress in regulating the conflict between this fundamental right and the right of access to official documents. The main objective of this paper is to examine whether it is advisable or even required to amend the Law on Transparency, Access to Public Information and Good Governance, in order to adapt it to this renewed European regulatory framework. In this regard, the paper provides some suggestions for the reform of Article 15 of the aforementioned Law that would ensure a more appropriate fit with the General Data Protection Regulation.
